Web Sites

American Community Gardening Association
"A national nonprofit membership organization of professionals, volunteers and supporters of community greening in urban and rural communities…" The Association is an excellent resource for those interested in starting a community garden in their neighborhood.

National Gardening Association
Founded in 1972, as "Gardens for All" to spearhead the community garden movement, today’s National Gardening Association (NGA) continues its founders' goals: helping gardeners and helping people through gardening. The NGA publishes National Gardening Magazine, to which Hartford Public Library subscribes. The NGA Web site includes: a question and answer section, an article library, a gardener's dictionary and plant name finder, a zone finder, an extensive list of gardening links, and a kids’ section.

Urban Agriculture Notes
Since 1978, Canada's Office of Urban Agriculture has published Urban Agriculture Notes by City Farmer. It has articles on community gardening as well as a number of other topics of interest to the city gardener.

This site was created for a library and information sciences course at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana.

Described as the largest community of gardeners on the Web, the forums are divided into several lists to make finding specific subjects easier. The Community Garden Forum is "for the discussion of all aspects of organizing and participating in community gardens."
