Dispose of tin and soda cans, old tires, buckets, plastic sheeting, bags, or wrappers, or other containers that collect and hold water.

Do not allow water to accumulate in flower pot bases for more than five days.

Clean debris from rain gutters.

Remove standing water under or around structures or on flat roofs.

Drain childrens' wading pools when not in use.

Change the water in bird baths at least once a week.

Pick up paper or plastic cups from backyard picnics.

Irrigate lawns and gardens carefully to prevent water from standing for several days.

Basically, do not allow water to stand for more than 2 days.
