The Mayor’s Commission on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Issues works to assist the elimination of bigotry, discrimination, and prejudice against the LGBT community in the City of Hartford.Meeting dates are the first Tuesday of the month from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  The Commission on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, & Transgender Issues meets in the Court of Common Council Conference Room

Connecticut Pride 2005 This committee is made up of volunteers from throughout the community and produces events that promote awareness, tolerance, acceptance, and equality for the LGBTI community.
 

Love Makes a Family is a statewide coalition of organizations and individuals working for equal marriage rights for same-sex couples in Connecticut.

Metropolitan Community Church is a gay ministry that holds prayer services at the Project100/Community Center (see above).  MCC Hartford exists to offer everyone the opportunity to experience the liberating love of Christ.

True Colors Sexual Minority Youth and Family Services is a not-for-profit organization working to eliminate the stigma associated with sexual and gender minority status and to ensure that the needs of the LGBTI community are competently met by those responsible for out education, health, and well-being.  True Colors sponsors the largest sexual minority youth conference in the nation.

Periodical and Newspaper Articles
Metroline-Online is New England's oldest Gay and Lesbian Publication. There are notices of local events and services.  It provides a wealth of information from legal to health resources.  There are links to social service agencies and support groups. The articles focus on GLBTI issues. Whosoever is the first online magazine for GLBT Christians.

Web Sites
The largest gay and lesbian organization in the country, the Human Rights Campaign is a bipartisan organization that works to advance equality based on sexual orientation and gender expression and identity.  The Human Rights Campaign effectively lobbies Congress, mobilizes grassroots action in diverse communities, works to elect a fair-minded Congress and increases public awareness of LGBTI issues.

Gay & Lesbian History in Connecticut as seen through the Web site of the Harry Kramer Initiative for Gay and Lesbian studies at Yale.

Symbols of the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender Communities  This page is published by LAMDA, an organization whose mission is to create social change and achieve full  civil rights, dignity, and self-respect for  gay, lesbian, and bisexual individuals through education, youth advocacy, anti-violence efforts, and fighting discrimination of all forms, to achieve full participation in society of persons belonging to a sexual minority.

LBThealthchannel provides health information of particular interest to the Gay, Lesbian, and Transgender community. Topics include AIDS/HIV issues, party drug use, safer sex, hepatitis and more.

SIECUS-the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States-has served as the national voice for sexuality education, sexual health, and sexual rights for almost 40 years. SIECUS believes that sexuality is a natural and healthy part of life and that all people have the right to the information, skills, and services they need to make responsible sexual decisions.

“The Stonewall Riot and its Aftermath” The online edition of a Columbia University Libraries exhibition held from May 25 to September 17, 1994 in conjunction with the international celebration of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Stonewall Riots.
