THIRD WORLD PRESS 40th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

Third World Press, one of the nation’s oldest and most highly respected Black-owned publishing houses, has been dedicated to publishing culturally progressive and politically insightful works of fiction and nonfiction since 1967.
The afternoon of celebration will feature a talk and book signing by Dr. W. D. Wright, author of Crisis of the Black Intellectual.

The Bluest Eye

Nobel Prize winner Toni Morrison’s heart-wrenching masterpiece is a haunting and tragic portrait of a black girl’s coming of age in the racially turbulent 1940s.  Eleven-year-old Pecola Breedlove prays for her eyes to turn blue so that she will be beautiful, so that people will love her, so that her world will be different.
