An organization for non-fiction freelancers, this site maintains a clearinghouse of information on rights issues involving many major magazines and newspapers.

Purdue OWL: Writing Resources
Purdue University’s Online Writing Labs (OWL) is a collection of style guides covering fiction, poetry, multimedia, business writing, and basic grammar. Provides links to over 100 published guides, tips from the MLA and APA style guides, and a directory of other online labs.

The Slot: A Spot for Copyeditors
Produced by a copy editor at the Washington Post, this site offers Miss Manners-like advice on grammar and style. The Curmudgeon’s Stylebook, a guide to good journalistic writing style, is the site’s best feature.

Writers Write
Most useful for its three market guidelines lists (Paying Markets, Nonpaying Fiction, Poetry), which provide information on submissions, payment, etc. Also provides The Write News, a daily alert service for the publishing world, and The Internet Writing Journal, a monthly e-zine aimed at beginners.
