Library Celebrates Citizenship Day with Naturalization Ceremony

Citizenship has long been among the most important privileges this nation can bestow. Each year, hundreds of thousands of immigrants complete the naturalization application process and take part in the swearing-in ceremonies across the country.

On Citizenship Day, September 17, 2008, the Hartford History Center and The American Place, at Hartford Public Library, will host this federal naturalization ceremony, welcoming the newest American citizens to our city and to our public library. The ceremony reinforces one of Hartford’s biggest strengths, its cultural diversity and the rich heritage it engenders.

The private naturalization ceremony will be held in the third floor Hartford History Center at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 17. Parking is available on the Arch Street parking deck adjacent to the library at 500 Main Street. For more information, call The American Place at (860) 695-6337.
