Cultural Navigator Program

The Cultural Navigator (CN) Program is designed to recruit and train volunteers to help guide new arrival immigrants as they adjust to living in Hartford. The CNs serve as mentors and help reduce the stress of cultural adjustment, strengthen linkages with vital services and resources as well as open doors to community involvement and family activities.  CNs are matched with individuals and/or families  for a 3-month period. 

Initial mentor/mentee interactions take place at the library.  The library offers a centrally-located neutral meeting place and access to a full range of cost-free cultural and educational services, including, Internet access, career guidance, English, citizenship, and computer classes, performances and exhibits.
