The American Place (TAP)

"The American public library empowered many immigrants to transform their individual dreams and potentialities into American realities."   Eric Frederick Goldman, "Century of the American dream," Saturday Review 3 (13 Dec. 1975):20-22

The American Place is a free library service for immigrants and refugees. Our goal is to help you adjust to life in America while preserving elements of your native culture.  All our programs are free and include practical advice for living in the U.S.; classes for learning English; information on becoming a U.S. citizen; and instruction on how to use the library to find information on jobs, health, housing, education and other topics of interest.

Professional development programs dedicated to improving understanding and communication in an increasingly diverse community are also provided.
