Yale
University: International Studies
"The program in
International Studies is designed for students who seek to combine
the discipline-based requirements of a first major with an
understanding drawn from several disciplines of the transformations
occurring on this planet in their interconnected socioeconomic,
environmental, political, and cultural dimensions. No student may
major in International Studies by itself; it must be a second major.
The number of students accepted into this major is limited. The
interdisciplinary nature of the International Studies major requires
mastery at an advanced level in one modern foreign language or
competence in two foreign languages at the level required by Yale
College for one; some familiarity with the history, society,
economics, or politics of at least one country or region other than
the United States; competence in introductory economics and in
quantitative analysis; and an understanding of aspects of earth
and/or ecological science or technology."
