Hartford Public Library presents FREE Career Readiness Academy 


Do you have the skills to get the job that’s right for you? Enroll in the Library’s FREE 10-week Career Readiness Academy.
At the end of the program you will have:

  • a professional portfolio notebook
  • an updated resume
  • a Myers Briggs job matching analyses
  • your own business cards
  • an image consulting assessment
  • and more!

This program is designed for adults without a high school diploma or with limited English proficiency 
(Bus tokens also available for those who need it).

General Education Development (GED)  

The GED Test is offered only on computer and previous scores from the paper-based 2002 GED are no longer accepted. Learn more at GEDTesting Service  or Connecticut State Department of Education

Other adult high school completion programs: 

Adult High School Credit Diploma Program(AHCDP) 
Credits toward a local diploma are obtained through a prescribed plan that requires a minimum of 20 credits in academic and elective areas. Credits for work or military experience, independent study projects and online courses may be additional ways to obtain credit. 

Career Online High School Diploma Program 
Available free through Hartford Public Library. Limited scholarships available to qualified students. Learn more

National External Diploma Program (NEDP)
Designed for adults who have gained skills through life experiences. The NEDP is a portfolio assessment program that offers no classroom instruction (one-on-one).  

Online Highschool Diploma (OHD)
Available free through U.S. Department of Labor Job Corps centers for young adults ages 17-24.
