Learn English Free! 

Free English language classes for speakers of other languages are offered at the Hartford Public Library.

  • Classes start three times a year.
  • Classes are for beginning and intermediate levels only.
  • Classes are open to students ages seventeen and over.
  • Classes are currently held at the locations and times indicated below:

Registration is the first day of class. During registration, the student will take a test to determine their level of English. No student should enter a class without registering first. Once classes begin we will continue to accept registration based on space availability. Late applicants must register in person at The American Place. 

Class space is limited. If a class is filled, the library can provide online self-study materials and other options.
