ESL Classes

Free English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) are offered at the Hartford Public Library.

  • Classes start two times a year.
  • Classes are primarily for beginner levels.
  • Classes are open to students ages seventeen and over

Weekday Class (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday): 9:30 am - 11:30 am. Class starts September 17 and ends January 30. The American Place, 2nd Floor, Hartford Public Library, 500 Main Street, Hartford

Saturday Class: 9:30 am - 12:30 pm: Class starts September 21 and ends January 25. The American Place, 2nd Floor, Hartford Public Library, 500 Main Street, Hartford

Class Registration

During registration, the student will take a test to determine their level of English. No student should enter a class without registering first. Once classes begin we will continue to accept registration based on space availability. Late applicants must register in person 2nd floor, The American Place.  

Class space is limited. If a class is filled, the library can provide online self-study materials and other options.
