We have a new system for reserving passes called MuseumKey. Click here for instructions on how to use it. 

 

With your HPL library card you can borrow a pass to visit museums, theaters, and attractions just as you would a book or DVD!

We have an on-line museum pass reservation system called MuseumKey. Use it to reserve a pass with an HPL adult or teen card up to 60 days in advance. Almost all of our passes are printable, meaning you can make a reservation and then print a confirmation page from home or the library to bring with you to the museum. No need to return anything to us! For Boundless card holders, the MuseumKey system will not recognize your Student ID number. Please call the library directly and a staff member can reserve a pass for you. Non-residents cannot reserve passes in advance but may check out a pass for same day use by calling or visiting the library. 

Check with each museum directly to confirm their operating hours as sometimes they change without notice.

American Cloack and Watch Museum 

Located in Bristol, CT. Pass admits two adults and three children free of charge.

Carousel Museum and Museum of Fire History

Pass admits four individuals for free.

Children's Museum/Roaring Brook Nature Center

Pass provides one free admission with every paid admission to the Roaring Brook Nature Center. Maximum of four free admissions per day. The Children's Museum is no longer operating out of a physical space.

Connecticut Museum of Culture and History 

Formerly known as the Connecticut Historical Society. The pass admits up to two adults and four children free of charge.

Connecticut River Museum

The pass allows up to 2 adults and any children under the age of 18 free admission.

Connecticut Science Center

20% off general admission for up to four people.

Connecticut State Parks, Centers, and Historical Buildings

Gillette Castle, Dinosaur State Park, & Fort Trumbull State Park.

*This requires a physical pass you must pick up at our Downtown Library*

Connecticut Trolley Museum

Located in East Windsor, CT. Pass admits two adults and two children. 

Connecticut’s Old State House

The pass is valid for general admission for up to four visitors. It cannot be used for admission to special or after-hours events.

Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art

Pass admits two adults and four children free of charge.

Eric Sloane Museum

Pass admits two adults and two children. Open seasonally May-Oct

Florence Griswold Museum

Pass admits two adults and two children under 12 years old for free. May not be combined with other coupons or passes. Fees may apply for special exhibits. The museum charges an event surcharge of $5 per person over 12 (even with the pass) during their special fall event Wee Faerie Village (dates vary yearly). This charge is applied whether visitors intend to see the faerie houses or not. Children under 12 are admitted free thanks to an anonymous grant.

Henry Whitfield State Museum

Pass admits two adults and two children free of charge. Open seasonally May-Oct.

Lutz Children's Museum

Pass provides half-off the cost of admission for up to six people. Children under one are always free

Mark Twain House & Museum

Buy two adult tickets, get one adult ticket free (2 for 1) OR buy one adult ticket and two child tickets for the price of one full price adult ticket (3 for 1) for the Mark Twain House Tour (General House Tour).

OR

Buy up to three Living History Tour (Specialty House Tour) tickets at a discounted rate.

New Britain Museum of American Art

Pass admits four people free with no age restrictions; one adult must accompany children under the age of 16. 

New Britain Youth Museum/Hungerford Nature Center

This pass provides four free admissions to the New Britain Youth Museum and/or the Hungerford Nature Center. Children under two enter free at the Museum and children under three for the Nature Center..

New England Air Museum

This pass will allow the pass holder and up to five visitors 50% off regular admission rates. Children 3 and under are always admitted for free. This pass is not valid for pre-arranged group tours, our home school program.

Noah Webster House

Admits up to two people for guided tours during regular museum hours (children under age 6 are admitted for free and all children must be accompanied by an adult). FYI, some days a guide may not be available, so a self-guided tour with a tablet is offered. This pass does not cover admission to special programs and events.

Norman Rockwell Museum

Pass admits two people for a discounted rate of $10 each.  Ages 0-18: Always Free

Old New-Gate Prison and Copper Mine

Pass admits two adults and two children free of charge. Open seasonally May-Oct.

Old Sturbridge Village 

50% off standard daytime admission for up to four individuals within their party. Each pass may be used once per day. Please present printed pass to the ticketer at the visitor center.

Prudence Crandall Museum

Pass admits two adults and two children free of charge. Open seasonally May-Oct

Stowe Center for Literary Activism

Free for Hartford residents only; children under 6 are free.

TheaterWorks

Two free tickets to a performance.

 

Wadsworth Atheneum

Pass provides free admission for two adults. Hartford residents are free! 

White Memorial Conservation Center and Nature Museum

Family pass allows two adults and up to four children (under 6 years are free) to tour the grounds and museum for free.

Pass admits five people for free. Children under one are always free.
