The fee is $5 per appointment.
Availability
Notary Services are available by appointment only. To make a Notary appointment, please call the Hartford Public Library at 860-695-6300 or email reference@hplct.org to set up an appointment. A phone consultation is required prior to the appointment. English- and Spanish-speaking Agents are available.
Guidelines

For Notary Services to be performed, you must provide two forms of identification; a picture ID as well as another current form of identification containing your signature. Acceptable forms of ID include:

A current passport from any country

A valid driver’s license

A valid state ID

A signed library card, credit card, debit card or work ID

Birth certificates and Social Security cards are not acceptable ID

Be sure the documents are complete and ready for signature (do not sign the document until you are in the presence of a Notary.)

If your document requires a witness, you must bring someone you know with you to the appointment. Library staff cannot serve as witnesses.

Notaries cannot certify copies of vital records such as birth, marriage and death certificates. Note that certified copies of these can be obtained from the issuing authority.

Notaries can refuse service at their discretion.
